Something that most of my friends do not realize is that I hate thinking about my camera settings when I shoot. Yeah, JP knows his stuff, but I shoot for art, for therapy, for crystallizing a glimpse of eternity — I don't shoot to write reviews or to sell gear, or to write a technical manual about a camera. I shoot cause it is me, the photographer, experimenting this present moment. Living at the edge of oblivion is an exciting thing; getting remembered about this is a whole other level of thrill.
I wanted to write some mean words – but I throttle back the heavy tone. FUJI WHY CAN'T YOU MAKE PREDICTABLE BATTERY LIFE. Always missing battery when I need to make the shot is the most annoying thing in the universe. It cannot be predictable. It goes from 66% to 0% in 5 shots, but sometimes in 50, or 100, who knows. You just never know. And oh, how about carrying spares? Well, what is the point of a street camera if I am to carry spares ? Spare batteries is so 2002.
I am using camera as an extension of my brain. I hate thinking about my settings or about my camera when I do photo.
So yeah, fuck you Fuji, I love you. Everything sucks about the X-Pro-1. The autofocus is slow as in 2002 digital camera slow. The shutter only goes at 1/4000. The dynamic range sucks, yeah, 2002 type. The shutter lag made me missed a thousand shots and counting. And oh, the battery. But funny enough, the X-Pro1 is always in my bag...even if it is just as a remember of a time where being slow at taking picture was not a bad thing.
